Adding Graphics to Print & Cut Template

Once you have created a print & cut template in Adobe Illustrator, you can use that template to insert graphics that are ready for print & cut.

Important notes:

  • When adding a graphic, make sure you include an outline of the graphic
  • If you don't have an outline already, you can create one with the shape tool
  • The outline of your graphic should have a stroke of 1pt
  • Ensure your outline and graphic line up correctly, they will print exactly as they are lined up
  • Always save your graphic file with ALL graphics & cut lines included in it as an SVG
  • To create your cut file for your laser, simply remove the graphic but leave all the cut lines and save as a new SVG file
  • It is important to NOT MOVE OR RESIZE the cut file in any way after your graphic file has been saved. They need to match up exactly and the cut pieces will be used as your jig for printing.
  • When importing your SVG to LightBurn, confirm it is at the correct scale. If the scale is off,  you will need to update your settings. See our article on import settings for more information
