Meet the Maker

Dawn | Owner/Designer

I’m Dawn. A wife and dog mom. Born in raised in Idaho, I now live in the beautiful foothills of Arizona with my family. My husband and I enjoy working on home projects together and spending time with our little furballs. In my spare time you can catch me volunteering, watching true crime or going on long walks.

I’ve been creating art for as long as I can remember. I always loved drawing on my sketch pad and painting murals. That eventually evolved into digital work, where I create on my iPad and use Illustrator to develop my designs. I now bring them to life with tools like my laser and UV printer, turning ideas into finished physical pieces.

About the Studio

I started Modern Cactus in 2019 with a simple goal, to create thoughtfully designed pieces that help people celebrate their special moments.

What started as a small operation in a spare bedroom has grown into a full-time studio focused on acrylic cut and print products, all designed and produced in-house. Not only do I design products, I designed my entire studio space myself. Everything from the floorplan to the surrounding landscaping. My husband and I built my dedicated studio space from the ground up ourselves, right here in our backyard.

Truly a small business. I care about designing products people are genuinely excited to use and show off.
